Jakarta Vice Governor, Rano Karno has urged residents to exercise caution and remain vigilant regarding their electrical installations to prevent fires.

"Nearly 95 percent of fires are caused by electrical short circuits. Ultimately, the responsibility lies with the public. Please re-examine your electrical wiring," said Rano, Tuesday (9/1).

For instance, a single electrical switch installation in a home is often used to power multiple electrical appliances simultaneously by stacking connections.
As a mitigation measure, Rano stated that his team is intensifying public awareness campaigns regarding fire hazards and response strategies, while also distributing portable fire extinguishers to every Community Unit (RW).
"Let us work together, the local government and the community. Let us safeguard Jakarta in every aspect," Rano appealed.
